Dawn on the Kumaon Ridge

Guniyalekh is a hamlet so small it barely registers on a map. Aarish sits here, thirty kilometres from Bhimtal, on a ridge where the first light of morning arrives like a slow pour of gold across the hills. The Kumaon landscape unfolds in layers — terraced fields, dense forests, and then the snow peaks, always the snow peaks, catching the sun before anything else.
