Tirthan Valley, Himachal Pradesh
A stone homestead at 2,000 metres — perched on the edge of a forest, overlooking the entire Tirthan Valley.
Perched on the edge of a forest-covered mountain, six hundred metres above the Tirthan River, Eagle's Nest is the kind of place you don't stumble upon — you climb to. And when you arrive, you understand why.
The house is built in local stones, in the middle of apple orchards. There are only three bedrooms — this isn't a hotel, it's someone's home that they've opened to travellers who understand the value of silence, good books, and the right view at the right time of day.
From the balcony, you can see the entire Tirthan Valley stretching out below — from the Shrikhand Mahadev snow-capped peak to the Beas River in the distance. The Great Himalayan National Park sits right in front of you. There's a library, a Spanish guitar, a digital piano, and board games for the evenings. The meals are a mix of Himachali and European home-cooking.
At two thousand metres, you're not just visiting the mountains — you're living in them.
